Hoxworth Crosstown Shootout Blood Drive challenges Xavier & UC students, alumni and fans

Donated blood to help local patients

Hoxworth Blood Center is proud to bring back the Crosstown Shootout Blood Drive Challenge, a citywide effort that unites Bearcats, Musketeers and fans across Greater Cincinnati to help save local lives through blood donation.

From Nov. 12 through Dec. 5, Hoxworth invites students, alumni and fans from both universities to roll up a sleeve and make a life-saving donation. The goal is clear: to save 3,000 lives or more. Every five minutes, someone in the Tristate needs blood. Every donation can help up to three local patients. Hoxworth is the sole blood provider for more than 30 Greater Cincinnati hospitals.

Crosstown Shootout Blood Drive Challenge dates:

“This blood drive challenge comes at a time when donations are truly lifesaving,” says David Oh, MD, Hoxworth Blood Center co-director and chief medical officer. “As holiday travel and seasonal illness reduce the number of donors, our community’s need for blood never stops. Every donation given here in Greater Cincinnati has the power to save a neighbor’s life. It’s one of the most meaningful gifts you can give.”

Join the excitement at the Crosstown Shootout game on Dec. 5 at the Cintas Center, where Hoxworth will announce the total number of lives saved through this year’s blood drive challenge.

Whether you’re a Bearcat, a Musketeer or a proud fan, every donation brings us closer to saving more lives in our city and provides hope for patients in need.

One for all. All for Cincinnati. We’re all saving lives close to home.
