Message from President Pinto: Moving forward together
See Frequently Asked Questions resource on legislative updates
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
This week my team and I have taken part in numerous challenging conversations with our community on the topic of diversity, equity and inclusion. We have heard from many who are concerned, plenty who are hurting and some who are even questioning their belonging on our campus.
UC President Neville G. Pinto
Let me be clear. While we must find ways to operate within the laws that govern us, we remain committed to our foundational mission to individual student success. We have spent years opening our doors wide, and this will continue. We will welcome every qualified student and provide them with the caring support they deserve. This has been a formula for incredible success for our students as well as our university, and I thank our dedicated faculty and staff for your vital efforts to bring our mission to life.
Please know that my team and I are committed to listening, and together we will find ways to meet this moment and, most importantly, do so with care and compassion. The work will be hard, yet we must find our resolve in knowing that our shared humanity will move us forward.
Finally, I recognize that in today’s politically charged climate, where news seems to unfold by the hour and policies are changing rapidly, there is a constant need for clarity and reliable information. In response, we have created an online Frequently Asked Questions resource, which we will update regularly to provide our campus community with guidance and helpful information.
