CCM presents In The Spotlight: A Celebration of Rising Talent
The event showcases seniors in CCM Musical Theatre, Acting and Theatre Design & Production
Story by Elaine M. Cox, Senior Director of Development
UC College-Conservatory of Music is proud to introduce “In The Spotlight,” a new event showcasing the talents of graduating students from Musical Theatre, Acting and Theatre Design and Production (TD&P) on Thursday, March 13!
Hosted by CCMpower, a dedicated group of friends and alumni fueling the future of the arts, this inaugural showcase extravaganza offers audiences an exclusive opportunity to experience the work of CCM’s next generation of performing and creative artists. Tickets are on sale now through the UC Foundation.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. in Patricia Corbett Theater with the CCM Acting Senior Showcase, where students will present a dynamic selection of monologues, scenes and film clips highlighting their skills and versatility.
Next, guests are invited to explore Theatre Design & Production Portfolios from 7-8:30 p.m. throughout Corbett Auditorium and Backstage Areas. These exhibits will feature scenic, costume, lighting and sound design, as well as technical production and stage management projects from the class of 2025, giving attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry that brings theatre to life. There will also be lite bites available while you enjoy learning more about the technical theater process.
The night concludes back in Patricia Corbett Theater with the showstopping Musical Theatre Senior Showcase from 8:30-9:30 p.m., where audiences can enjoy an energetic and engaging performance by CCM’s nationally renowned Musical Theatre program.
The event marks an exciting new tradition at CCM, bringing together three of the college’s theatre arts programs for an unforgettable night of performances and presentations. Ken Kanter, President of CCMpower’s Board, shared his enthusiasm for the inaugural event:
"The CCMpower board is thrilled that this year, Senior Showcase includes Acting, Theatre Design and Production, and Musical Theatre — an evening we will long remember," Kanter said. "You can bet that the next time we will see these incredible talents, it will be on a stage or screen around the world. Hope you can join us!"
As the host of this exciting new event, CCMpower is a network of friends and alumni dedicated to setting the stage for more — more scholarships, more support, more mentorship, more creativity and more opportunities for CCM students. Through their collective generosity, CCMpower members help ensure that the next generation of performing and media artists has the resources and support needed to thrive.
Following the final performance, guests will gather for a celebratory reception with bubbly, toasting the graduating class of 2025. The event promises to be an inspiring evening of artistry and entertainment, highlighting the depth of talent fostered at CCM. Family, friends, industry professionals and theatre enthusiasts alike are invited to attend and support these exceptional young artists as they take the next step in their careers.
