Virtual STEM conference offers continuing education for teachers
STEM Conference 2021 moves to online format
STEM Conference 2021, a training event for regional K-12 science, technology, math and engineering teachers, has been changed from an in-person event at the University of Cincinnati to a virtual event because of the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
The University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science and Northern Kentucky University, with sponsorship from STEMucation Academy, have partnered to host the virtual conference on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, to supply educators with high-quality, applicable tools to improve STEM education in our region. This year's event is built around the theme “Spotlight on STEM, STEAM, or STREAM, Exploring Today's Mindset.”
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include 22 sessions and interactive workshops, including a featured speaker, Dean Regas, nationally known astronomer from the Cincinnati Observatory and podcast creator and host of Looking Up. The conference will also hold a special session on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion featuring a group of expert panelists to field questions.
Because of the switch to a virtual event, all sessions will be recorded and made available to registrants who can't attend on the day of the event.
The cost has been reduced for the virtual event and those who registered previously for the planned in-person event will be contacted regarding registration options.
Registration is $65 ($60 for group rate and pre-serve teachers) and includes up to four professional development contact hours. Showcase participants can register for $10.
