John Goering honored with Delta Sigma Pi Career Achievement Award

Delta Sigma Pi (Deltasig) named John Goering the 2021 recipient of their Career Achievement Award just before his passing in February. He is the second generation of the Goering family to be a member of the fraternity, following in the footsteps of his father.
Delta Sigma Pi is a business fraternity that prepares students to be ethical leaders. By equipping their members to achieve maximum impact in their studies, careers, communities, civic involvement, and personal relationships throughout their lives, Deltasig helps further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture as well as the civic and commercial welfare of the community.
The Deltasig Career Achievement Award is presented to Delta Sigma Pi members who have most distinguished themselves in business, government, or education, and through their accomplishments have furthered a higher standard of commercial ethics, culture, and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

"The purpose and mission of the fraternity are in lock-step with the way Dad lived,” said Sue Hill, John’s daughter and member of the Goering Center’s Board of Directors. “And his legacy will continue within the University of Cincinnati and the family and private business community.”
Hill accepted the award at the Goering Center’s May Board of Directors meeting, where she, and the board, learned some fascinating family history:
John’s father, Sue’s grandfather, Albert Goering was a founding member of the Alpha Theta chapter of DSP at the University of Cincinnati and was initiate number 3 in 1924. John Goering, Albert’s son and Sue’s father, was Alpha Theta initiate number 406 in 1958. DSP currently has 225 campus chapters and nearly 300,000 members in total. The University of Cincinnati’s Alpha Theta chapter now has almost 2,500 members.
Other recipients of the DSP Career Achievement Award include the CEO of JC Penney, managing partner of Price Waterhouse, university presidents and Federal Reserve leaders.
