WLWT: COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Ohio
UC dean for clinical research shares his personal story with the vaccine
COVID-19 vaccine providers across Ohio will soon get better guidance about the next steps for getting shots into arms, as state leaders are expected to host a webinar to outline expectations and guidelines for distribution.
Officials said at least 1,700 providers are registered to distribute the shots, and there are more to come.
Brett Kissela, MD, who is senior associate dean for clinical research at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and chief of research services at UC Health, says the benefits of the vaccine outweigh any potential side effects.
"It's a triumph for science, and it was done right, and it was done well," he told Channel 5.
Kissela is a participant in the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine trial, being hosted at UC and UC Health; he recently found out that he received the placebo but was offered the actual vaccine and took it.
