CAHS departments reconnect with alumni in the new HSB

Two departments within the College of Allied Health Sciences hosted alumni, friends, faculty and community partners in the new Health Sciences Building (HSB) in February.

On Feb. 10, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) welcomed over 60 people for an Open House of the HSB and the Speech and Hearing Clinic. Having served the Greater Cincinnati community for more than 40 years, the clinic has a new home in the HSB with state-of-the-art facilities to serve patients of all ages.

During the evening, CSD Department Chair Jeffrey DiGiovanni said, “Our new building offers facilities and tools to enhance our already outstanding program, offering an aesthetic to match the quality of the education we offer our students.” The event enabled longtime faculty members to reconnect with former students and new faculty to meet dedicated and enthusiastic alumni.

On Feb. 18, the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences (RENS) showcased new spaces that facilitate experiential learning, including the Ellen Marie Rember Food & Nutrition Sciences Laboratory, the Health Sciences & Athletic Training Lab, and occupational therapy and physical therapy labs.

“We are thrilled to share exciting updates about developing programs and the incredible opportunities in our new building,” said Kari Dunning, interim RENS department chair. Faculty gave tours to alumni and community partners and shared updates about the new occupational therapy and athletic training master’s programs.

If you were unable to attend either event but are interested in a private tour of the new Health Sciences Building, email Bri Coggins, Associate Director of Alumni Relations, or call 513-556-4005.
