International media: Plane cabins of tomorrow
UC students' designs for futuristic aircraft interiors make international award shortlist
The Crystal Cabin Awards are a showcase for the plane cabins of tomorrow. Recognizing innovation in cabin designs across eight categories, the awards have attracted concept designs as varied as in-flight spas and foldaway plane beds, including work from the University of Cincinnati.
One project designed to fit within Airbus' "Cabin Vision 2030" flexible cabin configuration includes a module designed by UC students that features a flying café bar. The design is on the shortlist for the 2020 Crystal Cabin Awards, the only international award for excellence in aircraft interior innovation.
The project was created in conjunction with UC's Live Well Collaborative and Boeing. Winning designs will be announced in March.
