Lifeguard training available at UC
Free classes offered to those who want to work for Campus Recreation
Registration is now open for summer lifeguarding classes at Campus Recreation.
The American Red Cross lifeguard training classes are being offered in two sessions. Each session takes place over a period of two weekends. The class will certify successful participants in First Aid, Lifeguard, CPR and AED use for two years.
Attendance in all classes is mandatory. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class.
The first course is open to members and non-members for a cost, and is free to those who want to work for Campus Recreation. The second class is only offered to individuals who want to work at CRC over the summer.

Cost is $235 for members, $275 for non-members, and free for individuals who want to work for Campus Recreation during the summer. Participants must pass a skills test on the first day of class.

This class requires students to complete the classroom work online, prior to the first class date. Participants must pass a skills test on Tuesday, March 24, or Friday, April 10.
Skills test includes the ability to:
- Swim 300 yards, non-stop, using a combination of freestyle and breaststroke.
- Tread water for two minutes without using hands.
- Swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10 pound brick from water 7 - 10 feet deep. While swimming on your back and holding the brick with both hands, return to where you started and climb out of the pool in 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Cancellation policy
A refund will be issued in cancellation is made within two weeks of the start date, less $60 of the administrative fee and materials cost.

UC Hosts Largest-Ever Unified Skills Day, Uniting Students Through Sports and Community
