The UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute was given the 2019 Best of Design Award for Healthcare by The Architect's Newspaper.
The institute is a leading treatment, research and teaching center for complex neurological conditions. Each component of the patient-centered facility was developed with user input. Shaped through input from Perkins and Will’s Human Experience Lab, the design responds to patients’ specific needs at every step of their journeys.

Although the technology requires further validation, researchers said it could help improve the identification of patients with heart failure, valvular conditions and left ventricular hypertrophy before they become symptomatic, which could improve the prognosis for people with these conditions.
