FOX Business: UC engineering student touts co-op program
UC construction management major Danny Holstein tells FOX Business he already has four job offers thanks to UC's co-op advantage
University of Cincinnati student Danny Holstein touted UC's top-rated co-op program this week to FOX Business.
Holstein, a construction management major in UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science, spoke to FOX Business host Charles Payne about UC's cooperative education program, in which students split the school year between studying and working full time for some of the world’s biggest companies.
UC students earned $75 million last year working for 1,300 companies around the world. U.S. News & World Report recognized UC for having the nation's top co-op program among public universities and the third-best program overall for internships and co-ops.
"You're getting an education. You're getting hands-on experience. You get paid. This sounds like a remarkable model," FOX's Payne said.
Payne asked Holstein what he would tell other aspiring students about the construction industry, which is expecting a shortfall of 2.4 million skilled jobs through 2028, according to a survey by Deloitte.
Holstein said he would tell them he already has four job offers a full year before graduation thanks to the competitive edge provided by UC’s co-op program.
"When you compare me or any of my fellow Bearcats toe to toe versus any other degree in the nation even at the most prestigious colleges in the nation," Holstein said, "employers will pick us 100 percent of the time."
