Acclaimed poets to visit UC Clermont
Annual series brings students and public face-to-face with accomplished authors

Author Linwood Rumney
The UC Clermont College Poetry Series will welcome two authors to the college’s Batavia campus this fall.
Author Linwood Rumney will visit the college Sept. 30. Rumney is the author of “Abandoned Earth,” winner of the 17th Annual Gival Press Poetry Award. His poems and nonfiction essays have appeared in North American Review, Crab Orchard Review, Kenyon Review Online, Ploughshares, Puerto del Sol and The Southern Review. His translations of Aloysius Bertrand, an early practitioner of the modern prose poem in French, have appeared in Arts & Letters, Hayden's Ferry Review and elsewhere. He recently completed a Ph.D. as a Charles Phelps Taft Dissertation Fellow at the University of Cincinnati. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife and son and teaches at Union Institute & University, which recently honored him with a SOCHE Faculty Excellence Award.
Rumney will be on hand Sept. 30 for a reading and reception at 12:20 p.m., followed by a Q&A and book signing at 1:25 p.m., in the UC Clermont Park National Bank Art Gallery.
Poet Don Bogen
Then in November, UC Clermont will welcome poet Don Bogen. He is the author of five books of poetry, most recently “Immediate Song” (Milkweed Editions, 2019). In addition to his work in poetry, he has translated the selected poems of the contemporary Spanish poet Julio Martínez Mesanza and collaborated with composers from the U.S. and abroad. Awards for his work include fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and Fulbright positions in Spain and at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry at Queen’s University, Belfast. Recently retired from the University of Cincinnati, where he is now an adjunct professor emeritus, Bogen splits his time between Cincinnati and Martinez, Calif., and serves as editor-at-large for The Cincinnati Review.
Bogen will be on campus Nov. 13 for a Q&A and book signing at 9:05 a.m., followed by a reading and reception, in the UC Clermont Library.
“The UC Clermont Poetry Series has been bringing local and national poets to the college for more than 10 years to read from their work, talk with audiences and conduct master classes,” said Phoebe Reeves, Professor of English. “We’re excited this fall to be showcasing two University of Cincinnati poets, one a graduate and the other an emeritus faculty member, to highlight for our students and community the many talents our university cultivates, supports, and promotes.”

Building Design: 27 interesting innovations and prototypes from the Venice Biennale

University of Cincinnati architecture students and faculty were featured in Building Design for their installation “INOSCULAE,” exhibited at the 2025 Venice Biennale. The project, directed by DAAP associate professor Christoph Klemmt, was recognized by journalist Mary Richardson as one of the top 27 global innovations in sustainable design.
