UC Chemical and Environmental Engineering co-sponsoring STEM conference for educators
The University of Cincinnati's Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is co-sponsoring STEM Conference 2019, which targets K-12 educators in science, technology, engineering and math in Greater Cincinnati.
The theme for this year’s conference is "Evolving STEM Education: Finding the right direction for my classroom, school, and district." STEM Conference 2019 will take place Sept. 19 at Northern Kentucky University in a partnership with NKU, UC, Butler County Educational Service Center and STEMucation Academy.
STEM Conference 2019 promotes UC’s strategic direction, Next Lives Here, by making an urban impact in education locally and supporting Cincinnati Public Schools and other public school districts in the Greater Cincinnati area.
The conference offers sessions on STEM initiative models and interactive workshops. STEM initiative models will showcase effective STEM Initiatives in the local schools. This might include coding or robotic clubs, makerspaces or career guidance. The interactive workshops feature STEM pedagogies and best practices that can be implemented in the classroom. These sessions include audience participation; attendees will walk away with new lessons to implement in hand.
Last year more than 300 teachers and school administrators attended STEM Conference 2018.
STEM Conference 2019 is now accepting proposals for presentations and early-bird registration until June 1.
Registration includes a parking pass, breakfast and lunch, up to 6 contact hours and conference giveaways. The cost is $85 if you register before June 1 and $100 after June 1.
