Gold Humanism Society Inducts UC College of Medicine Students
Residents honored for teaching excellence
The College of Medicine’s Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, inducted a class of 25 students and presented humanism awards to residents and faculty at its annual dinner, Wednesday, May 1, 2019, in the CARE/Crawley Atrium.
Tiffiny Diers, MD, associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, was recognized as the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Faculty honoree and Andrea Rosado, a fourth-year medical student, was recognized as the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Student honoree.

Diers and Rosado will officially be presented the award, which recognizes a College of Medicine faculty member and student who best demonstrate outstanding compassion in the delivery of care, as well as clinical excellence, during Honors Day on May 18, 2019. Diers provided a short keynote address at event.
Laura Malosh, PhD, assistant dean of student affairs, introduced Rosado, while Eric Warm, MD, Richard W. Vilter Professor of Medicine and director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, introduced Diers.
Medical students inducted into GHHS include: Jenna Barengo, Amanda Beyer, David Buchberger, Hiley Cammock, Grace Chen, Margaret Cinibulk, Selena Dasari, Robert Daulton, Madison Epperson, Andrew Furthmiller, Ellis Green, Caroline Hensley, Farah Hussain, Ayesha Khan, Jasmine Lee, Aaron Linn, Gilbert Marchant, Anthony Martella, Colleen O’Neil, Evan Onusko, Kameron Shams, Mikail Siddiki, Meredith Taylor, Stephanie Thomas and Eujin “Max” Yeo.

All students were nominated by their peers as individuals who best exemplify integrity, compassion, altruism, respect, empathy and a dedication to service. Their awards were presented by Malosh.
Finally, the society recognized three residents with the Arnold P. Gold Humanism Teaching Awards this year. Presented by Paul Wojciechowski, MD, associate professor of clinical anesthesiology and interim designated institutional official, the winners are:
- Long Davalos, MD, neurology and rehabilitation medicine
- Andy Ewbank, MD, obstetrics and gynecology
- Winnie Lo, MD, general surgery
