Dr. David Kelley Published in High School Today Magazine
Sport Administration professor gets published in national magazine
David J. Kelley Ph.D., CAA, and Assistant Professor-Field Service in the Sport Administration Program have been published in the May edition of High School Today magazine, a publication that is the national voice of education-based athletic and fine arts activities". High School Today is distributed to athletic directors, principals, superintendents, and school board presidents in over 18,000 schools nationwide by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
In his article, "Grant Writing: Is This an Option for High School Athletic Directors?", Dr. Kelley discusses grant-writing as a feasible solution to economic pressures high school athletic directors face on a daily basis.
Dr. David J. Kelley is an Assistant Professor in the Sport Administration Program within the University of Cincinnati's School of Human Services and is a Certified Athletic Administrator with the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). Originally from Pittsford, New York, he and his wife, Tami, currently reside in Loveland, Ohio. Dr. Kelley spent over a decade as a teacher, coach and athletic administrator in the Vinton County Local Schools in McArthur, Ohio and studied at Ohio University where he received a Ph.D. in 2002 for his research on curriculum development specifically designed for Interscholastic Athletic Administrators.
During his tenure in the Vinton County Schools, Dr. Kelley wrote and secured grants from the United States Government and the General Mills Foundation in order to improve the facility and equipment needs of the Physical Education and Athletic programs in Vinton County. In 1998, then-Congressman Ted Strickland presented Dr. Kelley with a commemorative American Flag, once flown in the nation's capital, for his work on the Gymnasium Floor Replacement Project in Vinton County.
Dr. Kelley's professional/teaching interests revolve around revenue generation; He is the author of Sports Fundraising: Dynamic Methods for Schools, Universities and Youth Sport Organizations, published by Routledge in 2012. In 2014, Dr. Kelley was appointed to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Capital Conference Committee which addressed the current and future challenges within interscholastic athletics in the State of Ohio.

App turns smartwatch into detector of structural heart disease

An app that uses an AI model to read a single-lead ECG from a smartwatch can detect structural heart disease, researchers reported at the 2025 Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association. Although the technology requires further validation, researchers said it could help improve the identification of patients with heart failure, valvular conditions and left ventricular hypertrophy before they become symptomatic, which could improve the prognosis for people with these conditions.
